Knob Creek Quarter Oak Straight Bourbon is a unique spirit hailing from Kentucky, USA. Crafted by the renowned distillery Jim Beam, it features a mash bill of 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley. The bourbon draws inspiration from the Scottish distillery Laphroaig’s Quarter Cask, blending the standard Knob Creek bourbon with bourbon that’s been finished in quarter casks for four years. This process enhances the contact between the whiskey and the wood, imparting richer notes of oak. The result is a harmonious balance of traditional, sweeter notes with a profound oak influence.
As for tasting notes, the bourbon presents a caramel-colored eye. On the nose, you’ll encounter a palette of caramel, sunflower seeds, oak, herbal spiciness, dark fruit, and hints of peanuts and Jujubees. The palate is dominated by flavors of peanut brittle, oak, char, herbal spice, and dark fruit. The finish is long, featuring notes of oak, caramel, menthol, and peanuts. The bourbon boasts a decent balance, a medium body, and a soft, easy feel.
