As a tribute to that grand old competition, Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon Batch #51 exhibits slightly more barrel spice and savory notes than the other batches from this series, although these notes blend into the inherent toffee and vanilla bean sweetness of the bourbon. Aromas of dill, lemon balm, tarragon, dried Mediterranean oregano, and Italian fennel-seed cookies waft to the nose, coupled with nutty tawny Port-flavored pipe tobacco, freshly baked almond cookies sprinkled with confectioner’s sugar, blueberry compote, and coconut icing smothered over white cake that dominate the palate.
