Goose Island’s Bourbon County Variant Bananas Foster Stout 2023 is a delightful addition to their renowned Bourbon County series, bringing a unique and tantalizing twist to the classic imperial stout. First introduced in 2017 as a Chicago-exclusive under the Bourbon County Brand Proprietor’s Stout, its widespread release has been eagerly anticipated by stout lovers.
This stout is a labor of love, particularly for innovation brewer Quinn Fuechsl, and represents a foray into uncharted territory with the use of bananas in brewing. The decision to incorporate bananas, along with almond and cassia bark, into a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, has resulted in a beer that is both innovative and deliciously satisfying.
The Bananas Foster Stout offers an intricate blend of flavors that mimic the beloved dessert it’s named after. The stout achieves a perfect harmony of deep caramelization, with aromas reminiscent of freshly baked banana bread. The warm notes of cinnamon and almond complement the richness of the stout, enhancing its complexity and depth.
